New Events-Save the Dates!

We have three great upcoming events to put on your calendar now.  On Saturday, April 25, we will be hosting a Randolph Painting Party at Seven Arts Center in East Point.  Come out with your friends and family from 1-3 pm to create your painting masterpiece.  Tickets are $15 for children and $25 for adults (includes all supplies).

On Sunday, April 26, show off your skills at the Allstar Kids Fitness Challenge at Old Fourth Ward Park.  Students participate in a time-based obstacle course that includes sprinting, jump roping, wall crawls, hurdles, sit ups, tunnel crawls and to finish off the course – a 20 foot confidence climb and 60 yard dash to the finish! The event features other activities for the whole family to enjoy to include active games, food, rides and on-site programming designed to inspire kids and families to live a more active and healthy lifestyle.  The Ultimate Fitness Challenge is a pledge based fundraiser where children have about 2 – 3 weeks to reach out to family and friends to make a pledge per point (10 stations ~ 3 points per station ~ 27 score average).

Funds raised at the Painting Party and Fitness Challenge will go to the Books & Burgers event on Friday, May 8 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Randolph.  At this free event, students will receive dinner, participate in activities that promote literacy, enjoy book readings from local authors and storytellers, sign up for library cards, and fill their bags with books that will spark their interest in reading. We are seeking donors and volunteers.  Contact

Legislative Updates

The Fulton County school board passed an Annexation Resolution at its February 10th  meeting. Although the Board does not take a position on Annexation, they did vote unanimously objecting the transfer of any Fulton County School System property to the city of Atlanta, in the event that the proposed annexation of certain areas in unincorporated South Fulton are annexed into the City of Atlanta. These properties include the current location of A. Philip Randolph ES, Sandtown MS, and Westlake HS.  You can find the full Resolution on Board Docs under the Feb. 10 public agenda tab of the Fulton County Schools website.

Support Student Council Food Drive

Randolph’s Student Council is sponsoring a food drive from February 9 – 13, 2015.

The food drive will support Nourish the Need, a food backpack program that provides kid-friendly ready-to-eat foods for children in need to take home and eat over the weekend.  Donations can be dropped  off in the blue Nourish the Need barrel located in the front office. When purchasing food please consider single size servings to minimize  the weight of the backpacks.  Single size cans range from 4 oz – 8.3 oz. Micro-meal containers are also preferred since they are lighter than cans.
