Legislative Updates

The Fulton County school board passed an Annexation Resolution at its February 10th  meeting. Although the Board does not take a position on Annexation, they did vote unanimously objecting the transfer of any Fulton County School System property to the city of Atlanta, in the event that the proposed annexation of certain areas in unincorporated South Fulton are annexed into the City of Atlanta. These properties include the current location of A. Philip Randolph ES, Sandtown MS, and Westlake HS.  You can find the full Resolution on Board Docs under the Feb. 10 public agenda tab of the Fulton County Schools website.

Support Student Council Food Drive

Randolph’s Student Council is sponsoring a food drive from February 9 – 13, 2015.

The food drive will support Nourish the Need, a food backpack program that provides kid-friendly ready-to-eat foods for children in need to take home and eat over the weekend.  Donations can be dropped  off in the blue Nourish the Need barrel located in the front office. When purchasing food please consider single size servings to minimize  the weight of the backpacks.  Single size cans range from 4 oz – 8.3 oz. Micro-meal containers are also preferred since they are lighter than cans.


Taste of Randolph – Coming Soon!

Save the Date!  On Saturday, March 28, 2015, the PTA will be hosting a Taste of Randolph dining event for Randolph students, families, and the surrounding Sandtown community from 12-3 pm at Randolph.  The Taste of Randolph will bring together the community to sample the culinary creations of local restaurants, chefs, and Randolph supporters.  All proceeds from ticket sales will go to support field trips for Randolph students, including the 5th grade trip to D.C., and a “Books & Burgers” event on May 8th to ensure that all Randolph students have new books for summer reading.   Do you have a contact at a restaurant or would you like to contribute? contact chairperson Amber Frye at MizzFrye@yahoo.com or the PTA at aphiliprandolphpta@gmail.com
